I want to thank you all so much for your encouragement as I’ve begun this journey into creating my own “Design House”. Having just started this year- I’m thrilled and humbled by the enthusiasm for what has started over here. Clumsy at first, (and still kinda) I feel as time goes on and I become more adept at execution and finishing, the House of Chaos & Babalon is already evolving. At first it was just jewelry, then came some photography sales, and now I’ve been commissioned to create couture garments, costumes, jewelry, even hair pieces, for collaborative projects and music videos. I LOVE what is happening. I am even thinking of publishing a book of illustrations, you have all inspired me so much! From Jewelry line to design house to…Art House and beyond. Eventually, I wish to work with more designers and artists under the C&B name and create something wonderfully unique. A true “House” of art, a family of collaborators. Thank you for all the support so far- you may never know how much it helps and inspires.
Chaos and Babalon is a direct result of not just a life-long love of art (and makin’ stuff) but a result of my spiritual and philosophical journey, of humanity’s journey. What I learn and experience, what you teach me, is what I model all this after. Nature, Pythagoras, Hermes, Philosophical Math, Indigenous Culture, The Shadow world, Egypt, Shamanism, Sex, I Ching…the list goes on and on - these are the things C&B is made of. This means I better try my best to live up to the beauty of the things that inspire me and make this world go ‘round! You will continue to see improvement. I promise you that.
These last few months I’ve really put everything into full throttle. I’m diving head first into this. Chaos & Babalon will soon have it’s own site, as well as this blog, it will be a sister to the site I use for my healing Practice, www.thewayofthecourtesan.com (Theway still needs some fine tuning, so please forgive the typos if you visit!).
The look and feel of the coming C&B designs are diverse, but not all over the place. There is the Dante Series, the Black Sea series, Designs called “Poe” and “Armadillo Shag”. You will see an entire line of ancient Egyptian style jewelry, meaningful crystals, Ceremonial objects, Beautiful flowing embroidered capes named for the Kosmos, Military essences, Couture clothes, Chain Maille, Leatherwork, and a lot of Modern Primitive inspired looks. Of course, there will also be a lot more coming from the Toy Kryptos line described as such:
Toy Kryptos veers inquisitively off the usual path of Chaos and Babalon. Where C&B is normally quite adorned and elaborate (as you will continue to see), Ché allows herself to indulge in her fetish for the small and Miniature with Toy Kryptos. The pieces that fall under this sub-label are restrained, emblematic, and, of course, itsy-bitsy…like the spider.
I am quite in love with all of this. I, uh, could use an extra set of hands and a much bigger sewing machine. But…I will say this, plaiting is much better than a machine ;) There is an element to C&B that is spontaneous, resourceful, sort of “lets see where THIS goes” and I intend on keeping that. They don’t call me MacGyver for nuttin’.
So that’s all for now. Thank you for being out there. If you are looking for more entertainment, more cuss words, loads of acerbic wit, check out the blog I have with Ms. Tiana Hunter, www.meninsweaters.blogspot.com, it’s quite a hoot. Also, I will be writing a monthly column for a new magazine in the near future. I don’t want to spoil the surprise so I’ll wait until it’s ready to launch!
Alright. I have to go. It’s 12:00am and I’ve got a crown and a costume due in the morning!
